You'll find types of Tetra Fish. And each one has its treatment. However, what’s here are just the fundamental good care of your Tetra Fishes.

Choosing a Tank

In choosing a tank, you have to be able to determine the right size of aquarium for the School of Tetra fish. You can use small tanks such as a 5-gallon tank but a 10-gallon aquarium is suited to this fish simply because they don’t grow larger than 3 inches.

Remember this rule of thumb, don’t over crowd your aquarium tank with fish, else it will have a higher competition for the food, and territory. I suggest that you begin with 5-8 pcs of Tetra for the 10 gallon aquarium. It is not suggested that you may have a single Tetra simply because they live as a school of fish in natural environment. Just ensure that they will have enough place to grow and enjoy their environment. Not overcrowded, and not too few.

Tank Accessories

It’s advisable to put lots of plants since it will somehow block direct light to the tank due to the fact Tetra fish prefers lesser light within their tank than other fish. But ensure that the fish really has a lot of ways to swim around and many hiding areas since it can make the fish feel safer in your tank. A dark substrate can also be helpful in creating a less bright environment because it isn't going to reflect the light from your lighting system.

Please, because our goal is to make nature aquarium, I'm talking about the real live aquatic plants here. Don’t use plastic. Tetras are the best to observe if they are within a natural environment.

Water Conditions

It is necessary that the water temperature is maintained between 72 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit. A pH level of 5.5 to 7.5 is suggested since Tetra fish like moderately soft water and is slightly acidic.

Basically, they're for fresh water aquarium and not for saltwater aquarium. Additionally, you need to make sure that your substrate neither is white sand nor crushed corals. They will likely emit calcium in water which is not too healthy for the fish.

Maintenance

It is important to make your water as clean as it can be but not 100% clean. You must replace about 40% of the overall amount of water if you are planning to change it every week and 70% of the overall volume of if you're changing it once every 2 weeks. This is to avoid harming and eliminating helpful organisms that lives within your tank together with your fish.

Use heaters when necessary and make sure that the water temperature is close enough to the ideal water temperature mainly because huge shift of temperature could affect the fish and may even cause stress.

Feeding Your Tetra

Tetra fish can eat veggies, flake foods, tropical granules, frozen and dried foods, and live foods. You possibly can give meat-based foods for most meals and vegetables occasionally. Please remember that never feed the fish with vegetables such as peas simply because it may cause serious damage to the digestive tract of the fish.

We're not referring here to the raw veggies alright??? It’s best to buy flake fish food rather than to experiment with untested food.
